The Reitz Home Museum, located in the downtown Historic Preservation District, is a restored French Second Empire mansion that was once the home of John Augustus Reitz (a wealthy business man known as the Lumber Baron). Many of the original furnishings are on display in the house including stained glass windows, gilded chandeliers, marble fireplaces and more.
Hands On Discovery is an interactive children's museum appropriate for children between the ages of 2 and 12 years. The museum encourages learning through play and interaction with its many exhibits including Seascape, Turn About Traffic, Fantasy Forest, the Hand-Sel and Gretel Theater and more.
